Below Surface Level: Exploring the Human Capacity to See Deeper
“All human beings come equipped with the hardware to see below the surface.”
-Jose Luis Stevens, PhD

In the simple words of Jose Luis Stevens, Ph.D., he reminds us, “All human beings come equipped with the hardware to see below the surface." As someone deeply entrenched in guiding individuals through transformative journeys, both in my role at Team UNcivilized and as a Sacred Breathwork Facilitator, I have witnessed the extraordinary capabilities within each of us. In this article, we will wade into the waters of human potential, drawing from my lived experience, background in traumatic stress studies, coaching, and holistic approaches to illuminate how we possess the innate ability to perceive what lies beneath the surface.

I understand the profound impact past experiences can have on our perception. Trauma can cloud our vision, making it difficult to see beyond the immediate pain. However, it is within the human spirit to heal and unveil the hidden truths beneath these scars. Through the lens of trauma-informed practices, we can explore how our hardware, our inherent capacity, enables us to uncover the buried emotions and memories that shape our lives.

As a Breathwork Facilitator, I have witnessed the power of breath in unlocking our ability to see below the surface. Breathwork, drawing inspiration from pioneers like Stanislav Grof, taps into the innate wisdom of our bodies. It is a tool that allows us to access the subconscious and bring hidden emotions and insights to light. By breathing consciously, we can navigate the depths of our inner world, revealing the submerged aspects of ourselves that we overlook in daily life.

Evolving Guidance, rooted in holistic and shamanic tools, embraces the idea that our hardware extends beyond the physical body. It encompasses the connection between mind, body, and spirit. We can deepen our understanding of ourselves and others by incorporating practices such as meditation, energy work, and ancestral wisdom. This holistic perspective allows us to perceive our depths and the interconnectedness of all living beings.

As a Human Design Splenic Projector, I recognize the uniqueness of each individual's design and how it influences their ability to see below the surface. Human Design offers insights into our natural talents and inclinations. By aligning with our authentic selves, we can sharpen our intuitive senses and gain a clearer view of the hidden layers of existence. Human Design offers you a potential blueprint, an outline, for returning to wholeness and living your sacred purpose.

In conclusion, Jose Luis Stevens' quote reminds us that we are equipped with the innate hardware to explore the depths of human experience. We can harness this natural capacity to see below the surface through trauma-informed practices, breathwork, holistic and shamanic wisdom, and an understanding of our individual Human Design. It is a journey of self-discovery, healing, and transformation, and I am privileged to guide others on this path. As we venture deeper into the uncharted territories of our consciousness, we uncover the profound truths that make us uniquely human.
